Mike Trout Was Invited to Watch Angels' Trade Talks by Interim GM Ahead of 2026 MLB Deadline

Los Angeles Angels interim general manager John Mozeliak invited long-time superstar outfielder Mike Trout into the team's war room to observe discussions before Monday's trade deadline, per Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times.

Trout has played all 16 of his seasons with the Angels. He's a 12-time All-Star, three-time American League MVP and nine-time Silver Slugger who will walk into Cooperstown as a first ballot member of the Baseball Hall of Fame someday.

Trout, who turns 35 on Friday, is also having a good offensive season this year with an .845 OPS (141 OPS+) and 18 home runs in 93 games.

If there's any player in professional sports who should be allowed to at least observe trade discussions, it's Trout, who has long been a franchise legend and could very well finish out his career with the Angels too.

As far as this trade deadline is concerned, the 43-69 Angels, who sit last in the American League East, conducted a fire sale.

Of note, they dealy outfielder Jo Adell, catcher Logan O'Hoppe, right-handed relievers Chase Silseth, Kirby Yates and Ryan Zeferjahn, left-handed reliever Brent Suter and right-handed starter José Soriano.
