Southeast, Central Regions Continue Dominant Run
Anyone who thought Florida's 14-0 win in the opening game of the tournament was an anomaly was silenced Monday when the team from Lake Mary threw up 15 more runs in a three-inning shutout against Italy.
It was the team's second consecutive shutout.
The squad has been dominant in all phases of the game. Zoey Brandon and Avery Little were perfect in Monday's outing, with both going 3-for-3.
Florida meets the home-state representatives, Johnston County LL, out of Clayton, North Carolina, in their next game on Thursday.
The Central Region representative from Owensboro, Kentucky, exploded for 15 runs on Monday, one day after scoring 11. They have given up just two runs in their opening games.
Hailey Warren blasted a three-run double in the second inning to put her team on top and they never looked back.
Nine more runs in the top of the fourth put the game, against Connecticut of the New England Region, out of reach.
The high-scoring squad plays Guyama Softball LL of the Latin America Region on Thursday afternoon in what should be an intriguing showdown.
