Red Sox's Adley Rutschman Trade Package for Orioles Called Out as 'Ridiculous' by MLB Insider
Adley Rutschman is on his way to the Boston Red Sox after a trade from the Baltimore Orioles that reportedly stunned those around MLB.
According to Sean McAdam of MassLive, one evaluator said that the package Boston gave up is "ridiculous."
"I'm absolutely dumbfounded by this...This is literally one of the most ridiculous trades I've seen in 30 years," the evaluator said.

The Red Sox sent catcher Carlos Narvaez and prospects Anthony Eyanson, Enddy Azocar, Kyson Witherspoon and Harold Rivas to Baltimore in return for Rutschman, Jake Rogers and cash.
Eyanson was the Red Sox's No. 2 prospect, while Witherspoon (No. 4) and Azocar (No. 5) were also among Boston's top prospects. Rivas was ranked as the Red Sox's No. 17 prospect, per MLB.com.
Rutschman is a three-time All-Star, including this year. He's dealt with injuries throughout the 2026 campaign and has been limited to just 67 games, hitting .251 with eight homers and 47 RBI.
While he's an average hitter, Rutschman has remained tremendous behind the plate. He's among the best in baseball in caught stealing above average and framing.
Even if Rutschman is an immediate upgrade behind the dish, the Red Sox paid a high price by giving away plenty of their top prospects. He also has just one season of arbitration remaining before he becomes an unrestricted free agent.
That perhaps shows that Boston is going all in on its current roster as it tries to win the World Series.
A month ago, it would have been hard to imagine the Red Sox being anything other than sellers at the deadline, but a swift turnaround turned them into buyers.
Boston went on a 15-game win streak that brought it back into postseason contention, and the Red Sox are currently sitting four games ahead in the wild-card race.
With the way it has been playing as of late, it's understandable why Boston wanted to go all out at the deadline. Whether the move for Rutschman will result in a deep postseason run remains to be seen.
