Yankees Reportedly Trade for Heliot Ramos to Boost Lineup, Jeff Kent's Kaeden Son Goes to Giants

The New York Yankees are reportedly finalizing a deal to acquire outfielder Heliot Ramos from the San Francisco Giants, per ESPN's Jeff Passan and The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.

The New York Post's Joel Sherman reported that pitching prospect Henry LaLane and Kaeden Kent would be heading to the Giants.

The Yankees had an enormous need in the outfield, with stars Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger both on the injured list and players like Trent Grisham (.687 OPS) and Jasson Dominguez (.654 OPS) not offering much offensively. Bats were needed in general, as Giancarlo Stanton is also currently injured.

Here's a look at the potential lineup the Yankees will trot out until their stars return, with Ramos slotting into either right field or left field depending on how the Yankees platoon the outfield:

Ramos, 26, was an All-Star in 2024 after hitting 22 homers with a .792 OPS. He followed that up with 21 homers and a .728 OPS last year, while this season he's hitting .264 with nine homers, 34 RBI, 36 runs and a .728 OPS in 74 games.

A right quad strain cost him 37 games earlier in the 2026 campaign, but he's been solid offensively when healthy.

Ramos isn't going to cure all that ails the Yankees offense—it's tough to produce when three of your best hitters are all injured—but he'll be an upgrade on some of their current options. If nothing else, manager Aaron Boone now has more optionality while filling out his lineup card on a game-by-game basis.
