Latest MLB Trade Rumors on Jacob deGrom's No-Trade Clause amid Rangers-Braves Talks

The Atlanta Braves reportedly have interest in Texas Rangers pitcher Jacob deGrom ahead of the trade deadline, but the veteran will have the final say in whether he's dealt.

Per The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal, the Rangers asked deGrom about waiving his no-trade clause, but he told the team that he wants to stay in Texas this season.

deGrom signed a five-year, $185 million deal with the Rangers in 2022 that granted him full no-trade protection. Rosenthal also reported that Texas is approaching shortstop Corey Seager and right-hander Nathan Eovaldi about waiving their no-trade clauses.

Eovaldi has a full no-trade clause, while Seager can block trades to eight teams. He will gain a full no-trade clause at the end of the season.

It's unclear whether deGrom would waive his no-trade clause to go to another team, but Rosenthal's report indicates that he isn't interested in changing teams this season.

The 38-year-old is 7-7 this season with a 3.96 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP in 21 appearances. He's in his fourth season with the Rangers after spending the first nine years with the New York Mets.

The Braves' interest in deGrom comes after the team placed Reynaldo López on the 15-day injured list with left knee inflammation. Atlanta has the third-best record in baseball and is primed for a deep postseason run, but it is still looking to bolster the rotation at the deadline.

Unless deGrom has a change of heart, he won't be joining the Braves' rotation.

The Rangers are just 1.5 games back in the wild-card race, but they reportedly are "discussing anyone on their roster in the right deal," according to MLB.com's Mark Feinsand.
