Newest MLB Trade Rumors to Know and Final Predictions for Landing Spots Before Deadline Ends

Several stars remain at the heart of insider reports ahead of the MLB Trade Deadline on Monday at 6:00 p.m. EST, including Baltimore Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman.

The former No. 1 overall draft pick continues to attract potential suitors in need of an upgrade at his position, but he is not the only player drawing attention.

Who else might be on the move, and what are some predicted landing spots for them?

Seattle Looking to Shake Things Up?

Buster Olney reported for ESPN:

"The Mariners are in such an interesting spot because the team seems to be performing below expectations. So Seattle is assessing whether it's better to do a partial sell-off and take advantage of the need for right-handed hitting, which is why it's listening to offers on free-agent-to-be Randy Arozarena."

He also noted that the Yankees are among the teams looking for right-handed hitters. Arozarena would bring some pop to a lineup that needs it, with Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, and Cody Bellinger on the injured list.

The former All-Star is hitting .282 this season, with 14 home runs, 49 RBI, and .834 OPS. He is not the offensive weapon that he has been in the past, but his OPS is the best it has been since the 2020 season, and he has stolen 20 bases, too.

He would be a great fit for the Yankees, who could use the outfield help, too.

Whether the Mariners are serious about trading Arozarena or are simply listening to offers as the deadline appraoches, amid a disappointing season compared to last, is the question.

Orioles Catcher a Hot Commodity

Jeff Passan reported for ESPN that "Multiple teams really hope the Orioles move Adley Rutschman."

The New York Post's Joel Sherman reported the Yankees are among them.

The Yankees need an upgrade in catching production and have all season long. Austin Wells is hitting just .161, with seven home runs and 14 RBI this season, but a lack of depth has kept him in the lineup.

Rutschman, despite battling injuries, is hitting .251, with eight home runs, 47 RBI, and an OPS of .764.

The former No. 1 overall pick by Baltimore in the 2019 draft, Rutschman possesses great plate discipline and is an excellent pitch framer. Though he has missed games this season, he is a reliable presence behind the plate and would provide the Yankees with an instant upgrade at a position of great need for the storied franchise.

The Boston Red Sox, Tampa Bay Rays, and Texas Rangers are other teams to keep an eye on amid their known need at the position.

Such a move would further sour Orioles fans on the front office, and with the team still mathematically alive in the AL Wild Card race, one has to wonder if team president Mike Elias would make such a deal. The All-Star has had his name associated with trades since the beginning of the season, though, and now could be the time to pull the proverbial trigger.

Luis Arraez Attracting Interest

The New York Post's Jon Heyman reported on X that "Rays, Rangers, Phillies are among teams on Luis Arraez, who prefers to stay at 2B where he's thrived this year in SF. Yanks like him but positional fit might be an issue for them."

Arraez is an elite hitter, with a .324 average, 136 hits, and 43 RBI.

He is not a power hitter who will rack up home runs, but his on-base percentage (.360) is his highest since the 2023 season, and he has added 10 stolen bases.

MLB.com insider Mark Feinsand reported on X:

"According to multiple execs, the Giants' asking price for Luis Arraez remains very high. You'd have to assume that price will come down as the Deadline draws near; the Giants have absolutely no motivation to keep Arraez, who is a free agent after the season."

With no reason to hold onto him and the season essentially over for the Giants in a jam-packed National League, Arraez is a prime candidate to be moved before Monday's deadline.
