Jacob Misiorowski Blasts Angels' 'Awful' Mound on Video After Brewers Loss, '1 of the Worst'

Jacob Misiorowski was once again excellent Sunday, but the Milwaukee Brewers pitcher was not happy with the mound at Angel Stadium during his team's 3-0 loss.

"It was awful," the right-hander told reporters. "Probably one of the worst mounds I've had. It was dry. It was rock hard. … You can't blame it on that. I gotta do my job. … There's always an injury risk any time that there's something astray. … I land so much further than most guys. They don't really fix that part of the mound."

While the mound may have been an issue, Misiorowski allowed just two earned runs and two hits while striking out 10 in seven innings of work. It was yet another brilliant individual performance for the flamethrower, who now has a 1.63 ERA on the season.

The problem for the Brewers in Sunday's contest was offense.

They didn't score a single run against the team with the worst record in the entire league. Walbert Urena struck out seven in six shutout innings, while the Los Angeles bullpen closed the door with three shutout innings the rest of the way.

Milwaukee managed just five hits all game, with two of them coming from Jackson Chourio.

Fortunately for the Brewers, they have plenty of breathing room in the National League Central at 69-42, which is 6.5 games ahead of the second-place Chicago Cubs. The real race for Misiorowski and Co. is likely with the 69-42 Los Angeles Dodgers for the best record in the NL and home-field advantage all the way to the World Series.

And that race got much more difficult when the Dodgers traded for arguably the best pitcher in the league in Tarik Skubal.

If they face each other in the National League Championship Series, Misiorowski will be tasked with trying to match Skubal and perhaps other star Dodgers pitchers such as Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow.

Fortunately for him, he won't have to worry about pitching on the mound at Angel Stadium in that potential series.
