The New York Yankees have added some offensive help amid injuries to Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger and Giancarlo Stanton.

The Yankees are acquiring Luis García Jr. from the Washington Nationals, ESPN's Jeff Passan reported Sunday.

The Nationals received four pitching prospects in return, per MLB.com's Mark Feinsand.

García is batting a career-best .283 with an NL-high .560 slugging percentage through 104 games with the Nationals.

Here's a look at what the Yankees' starting lineup could look like following the trade with Judge, Bellinger and Stanton still on IL.

  • DH: Ben Rice
  • 1B: Luis García Jr. / Paul Goldschmidt
  • 2B: Jazz Chisholm Jr.
  • SS: José Caballero
  • 3B: Ryan McMahon
  • C: Austin Wells
  • LF: Spencer Jones
  • CF: Trent Grisham
  • RF: Jasson Domínguez

García has played the entirety of this season at first base or designated hitter for the Nationals, although he also has past experience at shortstop and second base.

The Yankees have been deploying Ben Rice and Paul Goldschmidt at first base, which Rice frequently slotting in at DH in Stanton's absence when Goldschmidt is starting.

Goldschmidt is more successful against southpaws (.309 BA against LHP, .201 BA against RHP) while García performs best against right-handed pitchers.

The Yankees could now potentially platoon Goldschmidt and García at first base while keeping Rice at DH until Stanton returns.

As of Sunday, Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Stanton had resumed hitting and was scheduled for upcoming live pitching sessions amid his recovery from a right calf strain, per Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News.

Boone said Bellinger is running, hitting and throwing on his way back from a right hamstring strain, per Phillips.

The news was less positive for Judge. Boone said the club did not yet have a date for reimagining of the stress fracture in Judge's right-side rib.

The club will now hope García can build on the best season of his Nationals career by providing the Yankees with additional offense as Stanton, Bellinger and Judge continue rehabbing their respective injuries.
