Travis Hunter Drops New Bold Quote amid Questions of Jaguars Star's 2-Way Role

Travis Hunter doesn't want to come off the field during the 2026 NFL season.

"All of them," the Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback and wide receiver said Sunday during an interview with NFL Network when asked how many snaps he plans on playing during the upcoming campaign.

"I can't stay on the sideline."

Hunter's role has been a major storyline since the Jaguars traded up to take him with the No. 2 overall pick of the 2025 NFL draft. After all, he won the Heisman Trophy at Colorado as a two-way star who played on both sides of the ball, and his ability to do so is part of what made him so valuable starting his NFL career.

Still, the NFL is a different game from a physicality standpoint and it was fair to worry about Hunter's ability to handle playing so many snaps on both sides of the ball at the highest level.

That injuries limited him to just seven games in his rookie campaign did nothing to lessen those concerns, although he didn't sound like anyone planning on playing with caution during his latest comments.

These comments also come after NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported in April the Jaguars "expect him to be a full-time corner, part-time receiver," which drew a response from the player himself:

Hunter was more of a receiver when he was healthy in his rookie season with 324 snaps on offense and 162 on defense, per Pro Football Reference. But with Jakobi Meyers, Brian Thomas Jr. and Parker Washington at wide receiver, there is less of an immediate need at the position in Jacksonville than there is with cornerback.

With that as the backdrop, it would be anything but surprising if the Jaguars primarily used Hunter as a cornerback in his second season as they work him back into the lineup after an injury-shortened rookie season.

But it also wouldn't be surprising if he plays a significant amount of snaps on both sides of the ball given some of his comments this offseason.
