Andrus Peat Announces NFL Retirement After 11 Seasons with Saints, Steelers, Raiders

Three-time Pro Bowl offensive lineman Andrus Peat is retiring from the NFL after 11 seasons in the league.

Peat announced his retirement in a Friday post on Instagram.

"11 years in the league, I gave it everything I had," Peat wrote. "I may be walking away from football, but not from the lessons it taught me.

"Thank you to my coaches, teammates, and especially my brothers in the trenches. I'm grateful beyond words that I was able to live out this dream. On to the next chapter with my wife and sons. All glory to God!"

Peat, a first-round pick by the New Orleans Saints out of Stanford in 2015, played nine seasons for the Saints and one for the Las Vegas Raiders. He closed out his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2025.

He appeared in six games with three starts in his final campaign with the Steelers.

Peat was named a AP second-team All-American selection in his final collegiate season with the Cardinal. He later became the first offensive lineman to be selected with a first-round pick by the Saints since 2005.

The tackle/guard went on to start 102 games for the Saints over his nine seasons with the teams, during which he earned three consecutive Pro Bowl nods from 2018 to 2020.

Peat hit free agency after his 2023 season with the Saints, at which point he signed a one-year deal with the Raiders.

He mainly served as a backup for the Raiders, appearing in 15 games with one start before signing with the Steelers the following the offseason.

Peat will leave the NFL with $63.9 million in career earnings, per Spotrac. He closes out his playing career having appeared in 132 games with 106 starts over 11 seasons with his three teams.

The Steelers bolstered their offensive line after Peat's offseason departure by signing former Dallas Cowboys center and guard Brock Hoffman to a one-year deal.

Hoffman is now expected to compete with offensive linemen including Dylan Cook, Spencer Anderson and Max Iheanachor for a spot in the Steelers' starting lineup this fall.
