Women's British Open 2026 Final LPGA Leaderboard Scores, Prize Money Payouts

Shiho Kuwaki defeated Esther Henseleit in a two-hole playoff on Sunday to win the AIG Women's Open for her first career major title.

Kuwaki finished regulation at -5 after shooting 1-under 70 in Sunday's final round, but Henseleit forced a playoff after an incredible 40-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole. It's just the second playoff since the Women's British Open became a major.

Yealimi Noh, who entered Sunday's final round with a three-shot lead, struggled to find a rhythm and shot 3-over 73 to finish in third at -4.

This year's Women's British Open featured a record prize purse of $10 million, with the winner earning $1.5 million, the highest amount in the 50-year history of the major tournament, per Jay Coffin of Golf Digest. This marked the sixth consecutive year that the prize purse increased.

Kuwaki was at even par through the first nine holes on Sunday, but a birdie on the 13th hole helped put her in front while the rest of the field struggled.

Henseleit shot 2-over on the front nine before locking in after the turn. She birdied three of her next six holes to tie the lead before a bogey on the 16th hole set her back. Undeterred, she sank the biggest putt of her career to earn a chance to compete against Kuwaki with the championship on the line.

At the 18th tee, Kuwaki sliced her drive into the tall grass in front of a bunker, while Henseleit's shot went right down the middle of the fairway. Kuwaki managed to get her next shot back on the green for a chance to save par, but Henseleit was in full control as she dropped her approach a little left of the flag.

After Kuwaki's approach dropped near the hole, Henseleit had the chance at a winning putt similar to her birdie to close out regulation, but from a slightly closer distance. Her birdie attempt sailed just right of the hole, and Kuwaki's putt dropped in for par. Henseleit followed suit to force a second playoff hole.

Kuwaki's second drive off the 18th tee was much better, while Henseleit had a disastrous drive that sliced far right and landed in the gorse bushes. This time, it was Henseleit who opted for a layup back to the green to try to save par. Kuwaki's approach landed to the left of the flag for a birdie chance from distance. Henseleit's third shot landed on the green as she hoped to stay alive.

Kuwaki's birdie putt didn't have the right speed and came up short of the hole, but Henseleit missed her par putt to give her another chance at the victory. After Henseleit finished off the bogey, Kuwaki calmly sank her putt to par the second playoff hole and win the Women's British Open.
