Tigers Thank Tarik Skubal in Farewell Post After Blockbuster Dodgers Trade
The Detroit Tigers bid farewell to Tarik Skubal after dealing the two-time reigning AL Cy Young Award winner to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
"For what you mean to this city. For what you mean to these fans. For what you mean to this team," the club's statement read. "Thank you, Skub."
The Tigers announced Sunday that Skubal had been traded to the Dodgers in exchange for three prospects, including two rated among MLB Pipeline's top 70.
Skubal is now set to play out at least the remainder of his expiring contract in Los Angeles.
The Tigers selected Skubal in the ninth round of the 2018 draft. He has established himself as one of the best pitchers in MLB over the last three seasons, during which he has posted a combined 2.40 ERA over 78 starts and 484 innings pitched.
Skubal underwent elbow surgery earlier this season but made a successful return in June. He will now look to help the Dodgers on their quest to win a third straight World Series title.
