Brock Lesnar Retirement Addressed by Triple H After Loss to Oba Femi at WWE SummerSlam

Triple H isn't totally closing the curtain on Brock Lesnar's WWE run despite the former world champion appearing to retire for good on Saturday at SummerSlam.

During his press conference after the show, the WWE chief content officer told reporters Lesnar's words and actions appeared to speak for themselves. Still, he declined to speak in any definitive terms.

"I don't know. You saw Brock in whatever way he retired a few months ago and then come back and do this," Triple H said (via Fightful's Ishaan Sharma). "But for Brock to walk back to the ring, to bring Oba back in there with him, to put him over verbally and physically as, 'This is the future of the business. This is the today. This is the now. This is the future, and I am the past.' That's a pretty bold statement.

"Brock doesn't just say things. Without reading into it any more than that, 'I am the past' is what he said. But you know as well as I do, Brock does what Brock wants to do. So I would take what he said at face value and let's see."

The original question came at the 39:34 mark of the presser.

Lesnar lost to Oba Femi in a Hell in a Cell match in the main event of SummerSlam's Night 1. It was a symbolic passing of the torch as Femi took multiple finishing moves and still came out on top.

Lesnar went a step further by embracing Femi in the ring and raising his hand.

A similar scene unfolded at WrestleMania 42, when Lesnar removed his gloves and ring boots before hugging longtime manager Paul Heyman. Many assumed that was his way of retiring, only for him to show back up on Raw.

SummerSlam felt more definitive, though. He put over Femi in a big way, and the event took place in Lesnar's adopted hometown of Minneapolis.

You can't put together a better formula for a legend to walk away from the ring for good.
