Taysom Hill-Sean Payton Reunion Addressed by Broncos HC as TE Eyes Landing Spot in NFL Free Agency

Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton is interested in reuniting with offensive weapon Taysom Hill, per comments made to NFL Network's Steve Wyche and Cynthia Frelund.

Payton was Hill's head coach on the New Orleans Saints from 2017-2021. Hill just announced that his nine-year tenure with the Saints is complete and said he didn't have a "clear answer about what the future holds."

It's possible his future could be in Denver with his old coach, who brought the undrafted free agent and ex-BYU star quarterback aboard in New Orleans nine years ago.

Hill served a variety of roles in New Orleans, lining up at quarterback, running back, fullback, wide receiver and tight end.

He made nine starts at quarterback over the 2020 and 2021 seasons, going 7-2 overall. Hill saw a little action throwing the ball otherwise and ultimately completed 63.3 percent of his passes for 2,426 yards (7.9 yards per attempt), 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

Hill also did damage as a runner, rushing for 2,551 yards and 34 touchdowns on 489 attempts (5.2 yards per attempt). Through the air, Hill caught 110 passes for 1,034 yards and 11 touchdowns. He accounted for 45 touchdowns from scrimmage overall.

Hill was a beloved fan favorite in New Orleans, and now it's possible the same could happen with the Broncos.

Hill, who turns 36 on Aug. 23, rushed for 114 yards and a touchdown on 52 carries last year (13 games). He also caught 11 passes for 91 yards and completed 2-of-6 for 57 yards and a touchdown. While those numbers are down from his usual productions, it's possible Payton could get the best out of Hill if he starts a second NFL chapter in Denver.
