Deebo Samuel Reacts to 49ers Return in New Videos amid Ricky Pearsall's Season-Ending Injury

Even though the San Francisco 49ers got bad news on Saturday with Ricky Pearsall set to undergo season-ending knee surgery, Deebo Samuel helped offset it by making his official return to the club.

Samuel signed his contract with the Niners early Saturday after being greeted by familiar faces when he arrived to the team facilities.

Soon after putting pen to paper, Samuel was on the practice field and got in a word with Mike Evans.

Samuel agreed to a one-year contract worth up to $7 million to return to the 49ers on Thursday.

The agreement came one day after news of the 49ers being concerned about Pearsall's PCL that he originally injured early in the 2025 season.

Pearsall missing the year is a huge blow for many reasons, not least of which is how much of a struggle it has been for him to stay on the field since being drafted with the 31st overall pick in 2024.

Samuel's return gives 49ers fans something to be happy about amid the team's already-growing list of injuries just five days into the start of training camp.

George Kittle is still rehabbing a torn Achilles suffered in the wild-card round win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Rookie receiver De'Zhaun Stribling is sitting out Saturday's practice due to hamstring tightness.

Samuel spent last season with the Washington Commanders after being traded by the 49ers in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick. He spent his first six seasons in San Francisco, racking up 5,935 yards from scrimmage and 42 total touchdowns in 81 games.

Even though his brief tenure in Washington was viewed as a disappointment, Samuel put up solid numbers given the issues at quarterback with Jayden Daniels missing 10 games due to injuries.

Samuel finished 2025 with 72 receptions, 727 receiving yards and six total touchdowns in 16 games.
