A'ja Wilson Reacts to Inclusion in WNBA GOAT Conversations After Winning 4th MVP in 2025

Over nine WNBA seasons, Las Vegas Aces center A'ja Wilson has won four MVP titles and three championships while amassing six All-WNBA honors. The three-time Defensive Player of the Year also made all eight All-Star Games during her pro tenure and led the league in points per game twice and blocks five times.

Needless to say, the two-time Olympic gold medalist has a fantastic case to be the WNBA's GOAT as the league continues its 30th season.

Wilson was asked about GOAT talk during a sitdown interview with ESPN's Malika Andrews, and she provided this response (2:17 mark).

"Crazy, it's crazy. When people say it, it's truly crazy, because you think about so many people that have been on this list of GOATs, and I just wouldn't imagine my name being on it at this point of my career. I'm just like, I still got so much to do. I still have to keep going. I want more. So when people say it, I'm like, 'Thanks, but what?'

Andrews followed up and asked if Wilson believed she would be the GOAT when her career is over.

"Probably, knowing me, but then on the other side of me, I'm probably like, 'Uh, am I? I don't know, though.'

"But I love it. And then the career and the journey that I've been on, it's been so blessed. Like, it's been just overjoyed with so much love that I receive. It's been so special, so I'm grateful. If I'm the GOAT cool, I'm there. In my eyes, I've been a GOAT since '96 (Wilson's birth year), so this is just a part of it."

Wilson is enjoying another tremendous season, averaging 26.2 points on 53.7 percent shooting, 9.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.6 blocks per game. The 19-8 Aces currently sit second in the WNBA standings and look well on their way toward another deep playoff run after winning last year's championship.

It's certainly possible that there will be no GOAT debate whatsoever by the time Wilson's career is over, but in the meantime, she could be well in line for an unprecedented fifth MVP en route to a fourth WNBA title, one short of the all-time record for a player (Rebekkah Brunson holds that record with five).

Wilson and the Aces play the New York Liberty next on Thursday.
