Derrick Henry Addresses NFL Retirement Timeline Ahead of 2026 Season with Ravens

Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry revealed that he isn't contemplating retirement as he prepares for the 2026 season.

"I don't try to enter another season thing about retiring and have that on my mind," Henry said Thursday, per ESPN's Jamison Hensley. "That's not even my mindset. My mindset is how can I get better, so we can be the best team we can be. I haven't thought about retirement at all."

"I love the game and once I feel like that love is gone, then I'll hang it up," he added. "But I'm just focused on getting better."

The 32-year-old has already spent 10 seasons in the NFL with the Ravens and Tennessee Titans.

Still, Henry didn't show many signs of slowing down during his 2025 campaign.

In 17 appearances, the five-time Pro Bowler rushed for 1,595 yards and 16 touchdowns while averaging 5.2 yards per carry.

His productivity was particularly impressive considering he faced at least eight defenders in the box on over 39 percent of his carries, the second-highest rate among all running backs (via Next Gen Stats).

Henry also remained durable in 2025, suiting up in all 17 regular-season contests for the third consecutive year.

While he already sits at No. 10 on the NFL's all-time rushing list, his teammates don't envision him retiring in the near future.

"As long as he is having fun and he feels good, he could play as long as he wants because they do not build humans like that," Ravens offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley said, per Hensley. "So, there are not many challengers, I would say."

Henry will officially begin his 11th season when Baltimore travels to face the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1 on Sept. 13.
