Titans' Robert Saleh Responds to Report He Told Fans He Plans to 'Kick the Jets' Ass' in Week 1

Tennessee Titans head coach Robert Saleh isn't backing down from his bold prediction about facing the New York Jets in Week 1 of the 2026 season.

After reports surfaced that Saleh said at a fan event in Tennessee that the Titans are going to "kick the Jets' ass," the 47-year-old affirmed that it will be the plan when the two teams meet on Sept. 13.

"I must've had over a thousand fan interactions at that event, so who knows? But isn't that the objective anyway?" Saleh told reporters. "I don't think the Jets are coming here Week 1 to sit at the 50-yard line, roast marshmallows and talk about our summers. We're getting after it, they're getting after it. May the best team win."

Of course, the Week 1 matchup carries a little extra juice for both sides, as Saleh coached the Jets from 2021 to 2024 before being fired five games into his final season with the team. There are also multiple players who will be facing their former team when New York and Tennessee face off.

Both the Titans and Jets are in the midst of rebuilds, so Week 1 will be crucial for both teams to start the year off with some momentum before the road gets tougher.
