New Mets Rumors on Players Drawing 'Strong Interest' Ahead of 2026 MLB Trade Deadline

Amid a disappointing season, the New York Mets are reportedly set to be sellers ahead of Monday's MLB trade deadline.

According to ESPN's Jeff Passan, the Mets "have six pitchers they're willing to move that have drawn strong interest," naming relievers Luke Weaver, Brooks Raley, A.J. Minter and Huascar Brazoban and starters Clay Holmes and Freddy Peralta as options to be moved.

Passan noted that the trade markets for starters and relievers are both deep as the deadline draws nearer. He named the New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago White Sox, Texas Rangers, Arizona Diamondbacks, Atlanta Braves and Minnesota Twins among the teams eyeing relievers. The Braves, Diamondbacks White Sox, Chicago Cubs, Tampa Bay Rays, Milwaukee Brewers and Philadelphia Phillies are hoping to improve their starting rotations.

At 46-63, the Mets have one of the worst records in all of MLB. Passan noted that while it could be tricky to make a slew of moves before Monday, New York has an "incentive to break up the most disappointing team this season sooner than later."

It sounds like the relievers already have one foot out the door, as Passan reported, "Raley and Minter will move for certain, and Weaver is expected to generate enough interest to warrant dealing him with one year left on his contract." As for Holmes and Peralta, he described them as "two of the most desirable starters" at the trade deadline.

Outside of their pitchers, the Mets don't seem to be on the verge of moving any of their big-name players. Passan noted that star shortstop Francisco Lindor "isn't going anywhere." Still, he noted that president of baseball operations David Stearns has the opportunity to change the future outlook of the team.

"This isn't a start-from-scratch situation, and unless they package some of their players, nobody by himself is likely to fetch a top-100 prospect," Passan stated. "That makes it all the more imperative to get these right and put the Mets back on the path they expect to travel: one to the top, not the basement."
