Taysom Hill Posts Goodbye to Saints, Confirms He Will Not Return amid NFL Free Agency

Taysom Hill's time with the New Orleans Saints is over.

The offensive weapon spent his first nine seasons with the NFC South team but released a statement Wednesday confirming he will not return:

"I still don't have a clear answer about what the future holds, but I know that returning to New Orleans is not in the cards," the statement said before expressing gratitude to the city, the fans, the organization and his teammates.

New Orleans also had a thank you of its own and released a video that was narrated by franchise legend Drew Brees:

While Hill entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent, he became a fan favorite for the Saints thanks to his ability to impact the game in a number of ways.

He was a quarterback at BYU and played the position at times for New Orleans as well. In fact, he was a combined 7-2 as a starter during the 2020 and 2021 campaigns while filling in at the position.

Still, he has just 12 touchdown passes to nine interceptions as a passer during his career and found more success impacting games in other ways, which Brees described in the video.

Sometimes Hill took direct snaps and made plays as a runner. Sometimes he did the same while taking handoffs. Other times, he went out as a pass-catching tight end and proved to be a matchup problem for opposing defenses.

Fantasy football managers are also plenty familiar with his nose for the end zone.

In all, Hill has 45 combined rushing and receiving touchdowns in his career with nine of them coming in 2020 and another nine coming in 2022. He also scored seven times during the 2019 campaign.

New Orleans frequently used him as a weapon near the goal line, and his versatility and overall running power made him difficult to stop at that part of the field.

Yet he will also turn 36 years old before the 2026 campaign and had just one touchdown last season. His peak may be behind him, and it remains to be seen whether he will sign with any team for the upcoming season.

If he does, it won't be with the Saints.
