Angel Reese Drops Epic Quote on Pressure to Win WNBA Title with Dream in New Video

Angel Reese isn't backing down from any pressure ahead of what figures to be her first WNBA playoffs.

"I came here to win a championship," she said of her first season with the Atlanta Dream during a sitdown interview with ESPN's Monica McNutt (nine-minute mark). She also said having such an expectation doesn't mean there is additional pressure.

"Pressure makes diamonds, baby," Reese added.

The LSU product started her WNBA career under the spotlight and with plenty of pressure already after she became a household name while leading the Tigers to a national championship during her collegiate career.

And while she was an All-Star in each of her first two seasons with the Chicago Sky, the team failed to make the playoffs either year and went a combined 23-61. Chicago then traded her to Atlanta ahead of the 2026 campaign and after she criticized her teammates in a way that led to a public apology.

Things have gone much better in Atlanta, as she was once again an All-Star this season and is averaging a double-double of 15.4 points and 11.5 rebounds a night. The team is sixth in the WNBA standings at 16-10 and just 2.5 games behind the second-seeded Las Vegas Aces.

Reese is well on her way to her first WNBA playoffs, and with players such as Allisha Gray, Rhyne Howard and Jordin Canada surrounding her, it would be anything but surprising if the Dream find quick success.

It may be a bit ambitious to expect them to win the championship with contenders such as the Minnesota Lynx and Aces on top of the standings, but the talent is in place to make a deep run.

And it appears as if Reese is ready for it.
