New NFL Rumors on Jadeveon Clowney's Potential Browns Reunion amid Training Camp

The Cleveland Browns could be considering a reunion with free agent defensive end Jadeveon Clowney.

Clowney is participating in a Wednesday visit with the Browns while "exploring another stint in Cleveland," NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported.

Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot added the Browns "are strongly considering" signing Clowney.

The 33-year-old hit free agency after recording 8.5 sacks over 13 games with the Dallas Cowboys last season.

He previously played from 2021 to 2022 in Cleveland, where he totaled 11 sacks over two seasons.

Garafolo previously reported there were four teams interested in signing Clowney this offseason.

The defensive end has ties in Cleveland through head coach Todd Monken, whose previous job as offensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens overlapped with Clowney's 2023 season with the team.

Clowney's last stint in Cleveland ended after he accused the Browns of focusing on setting up Myles Garrett for success rather than winning.

He said in September 2023 he didn't have "bad blood" with the franchise, which has since traded Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams.

Clowney could now potentially help provide more help at his position alongside his former Browns teammate Alex Wright and Jared Verse, who arrived in Cleveland as part of the return for the Garrett trade.

The Cowboys waited until Week 3 of last season to sign Clowney. Despite not having a full offseason to adjust to his new team, Clowney went on to lead the Cowboys in sacks.

DallasCowboys.com's Patrik Walker and Tommy Yarrish theorized earlier this offseason the Cowboys weren't pursuing a new contract for Clowney because the team was looking for young players who could fit more easily into the scheme of new defensive coordinator Christian Parker.

The Browns could now hope the Cowboys' defensive turnover will allow them add depth that can help make up for the loss of Garrett.
