Quinnen Williams, Cowboys Reportedly Agree to $105.9M Contract Extension, Updated NFL Salary Cap

The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly committing to Quinnen Williams as a long-term fixture of their defense.

The Cowboys and Williams agreed Monday to a $105.9 million, three-year contract, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport:

Williams, 28, was previously signed through the 2027 season with a potential out after the 2026 campaign.

According to Over the Cap, the Cowboys have $5.5 million in team cap space for 2026.

This new deal comes after the Philadelphia Eagles made Jalen Carter the highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history with a four-year, $152 deal worth up to $160 million.

Cowboys CEO Stephen Jones said at the start of training camp in late July the team had already started discussions with Williams about his next contract.

"We've got a lot of resources tied up in him... he's at the top of the list in terms of people that we want to keep around here long term," Jones said at the time.

The Cowboys acquired Williams from the New York Jets in November 2025 in exchange for a package including a 2027 first-round pick and defensive tackle Mazi Smith.

The defensive tackle went on to record 1.5 sacks, 21 tackles, nine quarterback hits, a pass defensed and an interception in seven games with his new team.

Williams has earned Pro Bowl nods in each of the last four seasons, including an All-Pro honor after racking up 12.0 sacks during his 2022 campaign for the Jets.

He will now hope having a full offseason to adjust to his new team will help him reach those previous heights again in 2026.

The Cowboys ranked 30th in the NFL last season in terms of total yards allowed, so keeping Williams in Dallas for the long term will be key to the franchise's hopes of building a defensive corps strong enough to back Dak Prescott's offense on a Super Bowl run.

Williams was initially selected by the Jets with the No. 3 pick of the 2019 draft. He totaled 40 sacks over 98 games and six and a half seasons for the franchise prior to his trade to the Cowboys.
