Conor McGregor Hints at UFC 'Last Dance' Fight Date in New IG Video After Knee Injury vs. Holloway

Andrew PetersJul 27, 2026

Conor McGregor is seemingly preparing for his final UFC fight after suffering a knee injury against Max Holloway earlier this month.

McGregor shared a video of himself training on Instagram on Monday. In the caption, he wrote, "IFW 2027 The Last Dance."

McGregor suffered a torn ACL shortly into his fight against Holloway at UFC 329 after attempting a flying kick after the opening bell. He announced in an Instagram post that he would have surgery, adding that he planned to finish his contract with the UFC.

"Surgery. Prehab. Return to martial arts practice. Go again. Final fight of the contract," McGregor wrote in the caption.

McGregor indicated that he plans to make his return at International Fight Week next year, which is the same card he headlined this year. While he hopes to be back in the ring next July, UFC president Dana White said it will be a while before a discussion about McGregor's return happens.

"The Conor McGregor discussion isn't even worth talking about," White said last week, per ESPN. "He's got to have knee surgery, he's going to have to go through physical therapy, it's all going to take time, and then when the doctor says you can start hardcore training again, then we start talking about Conor McGregor again."

A one-year timeline is usually the case for a torn ACL, but McGregor noted in a previous Instagram post that he recovered from the same injury in nine months back in 2013.

"With today's regenerative medicine advancements and improved training methods it is well within my realm to return by next summer," he said. "I am walking without a crutch. I done leg extension machine work the other day to no issue. So I can walk without aid, and activate my quad under resistance. All very positive."

McGregor hasn't won a fight since 2020, when he beat Donald Cerrone at UFC 246. He lost back-to-back fights against Dustin Poirier before his loss to Holloway. McGregor surely wants to finish his UFC career with a win, but his recent injury struggles might make that a difficult task.
