Yankees Unveil New George Costanza Bobblehead in Photo for Upcoming Game vs. Astros

You're familiar with Independent George. But it's time to reintroduce yourself to Bobblehead George.

The New York Yankees are giving 18,000 fans a George Costanza bobblehead on Thursday, Aug. 27 in honor of everybody's favorite self-loathing Seinfeld character.

Costanza famously had a stint as a Yankees employee on the show, and the Yankees are calling back to "The Calzone" episode in particular.

This is the third straight season the Yankees are doing a George bobblehead.

"It was probably by far our most popular giveaway," the Yankees' senior associate director of marketing, promotions, stadium events and broadcast marketing, Craig Cartmell, told The Athletic's David Betancourt regarding last year's Costanza bobbleheads. "We got a lot of questions like, 'What are you guys gonna do this year?' The Seinfeld people were really excited when we came to them with this idea. Putting him in the Yankee jacket. Eating a calzone and tying into the George Costanza/George Steinbrenner calzone episode."

The actor who played Costanza, Jason Alexander, has never been able to make a stadium appearance during a George bobblehead night. The Yankees said they were hopeful that might change this year but couldn't guarantee anything.
