Novak Djokovic, Aryna Sabalenka Headline Mixed Doubles Teams Announced for 2026 US Open

The US Open's mixed doubles competition has announced its initial entry list for next month's tournament.

Per The Athletic's Matthew Futterman, 24-Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic will be teaming with women's world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka as the headlining duo. The full list of entries is as follows, with the first six receiving direct entry into the main draw based on their combined singles ranking:

• Alex Eala and Félix Auger-Aliassime
• Leylah Fernandez and Frances Tiafoe
• Taylor Townsend and Alexander Zverev
• Elena-Gabriela Ruse and Nuno Borges
• Jessica Pegula and Jack Draper
• Naomi Osaka and Kei Nishikori
• Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori
• Kateřina Siniaková and Henry Patten
• Peyton Stearns and Preston Stearns

"Anytime you can bring women and men together on the same team, you showcase tennis at its best," new U.S. Tennis Association chief executive Craig Tiley said in a statement.

Sabalenka did not compete in last year's inaugural edition, which was won by the Italian duo of Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori. Futterman noted that the defending champs "will likely receive a wild card entry, according to a person briefed on the tournament's plans who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about them."

While the list of entries is already filled with impressive names, there are some major omissions. Men's world No. 1 Jannik Sinner, seven-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz and legends Venus and Serena Williams are among the players not yet on the list. Per Futterman, both Sinner and Alcaraz are on the singles entry list, while the Williams sisters would both require wild cards to enter the singles draw.

The entry for the mixed doubles competition closes on Aug. 17. The tournament will run over three days from Aug. 24-26. Futterman added that last year's inaugural competition drew nearly 78,000 spectators for the semifinals and finals at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
