Phillies' Alec Bohm 'Pissed Off' and 'Tired of' Being Seen as an 'Easy Out' After Win vs. Yankees

Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm was tired of opposing teams intentionally walking his teammates in order to face him following the Phillies' 11-4 win over the New York Yankees on Sunday.

"It's happened a lot to me during my career, but that time it kind of pissed me off," Bohm told reporters after the game (0:08 mark). "It definitely feels good. It's not like I'm mad at them for doing it or mad at anybody in particular, I'm tired of people thinking that I'm the easy out. Yeah, I know what the numbers say but I don't feel like I'm an out going up there. Obviously in those situations you want to make them feel like they made a mistake."

With runners on second and third base in the bottom of the third inning, the Yankees intentionally walked Brandon Marsh with two outs in order to face Bohm.

Bohm stepped up, hitting a bases-clearing double that gave Philadelphia a 5-0 lead.

The 29-year-old has struggled at the plate this season, recording 13 home runs and 16 doubles while compiling a mere .221/.282/.368 slash line.

It's worth noting that Bohm has found more success recently, hitting .278 while posting an OPS of .816 in nine games following the All-Star break.

If he can look more like his former self down the stretch of his 2026 campaign, it would provide a major boost to the Phillies' lineup as they battle for postseason positioning.

Philadelphia currently owns a 57-49 record, sitting in the second National League Wild Card spot.
