Who Won 1st-Ever X Games League Championship? Final Standings, Points and Top Stars

X Games New Orleans wrapped up Sunday night, concluding not just the three-day action sports event but the first season of the newly launched X Games League (XGL).

The season opened with an event in Sacramento in late June, followed by a stop in Chiba, Japan, in early July. At each of the three stops, athletes representing the four teams that comprise summer XGL (XC Tokyo, XC São Paulo, XC New York and XC Los Angeles) earned valuable points toward crowning the inaugural XGL summer champion.

It's a dramatic change from the one-off summer and winter events X Games fans are used to. In March, more than 100 athletes opted into the first-ever XGL draft, with 40 athletes across skateboarding and BMX being selected. Though Moto X events have been held at each of this season's three events, they do not count toward XGL standings.

Heading into the third and final stop of the season in New Orleans, XC Tokyo and XC New York were tied atop the standings, with 1,770 points each. Who came out victorious in NOLA?

First, let's recap the first two stops of the season.

After the opening event, XC Tokyo led the inaugural standings with 980 points, followed by XC São Paulo and XC New York tied at 950 and XC Los Angeles at 810 heading into Chiba.

Sacramento featured standout performances from Aussie skateboarder Arisa Trew, who landed the first-ever competition switch McTwist and won two gold medals; Gui Khury, who captured two vert golds to extend his historic run; and Ryan Williams, who unveiled a never-before-seen BMX trick en route to two victories. Other highlights included free agent Justin Dowell's surprise BMX park gold, Ginwoo Onodera's men's street title, Mia Kretzer's women's vert victory and hometown favorite Brady Baker's BMX dirt win.

X Games Chiba 2026 tightened the XGL championship race, with XC Tokyo and XC New York finishing the second stop tied atop the standings at 1,770 points, ahead of XC São Paulo (1,610) and XC Los Angeles (1,510) entering the winner-take-all finale in New Orleans. Chiba featured several historic performances, including Garrett Reynolds' record 18th X Games gold medal, 11-year-old Ema Kawakami becoming the youngest male gold medalist in X Games history and Spain's Egoitz Bijueska earning the country's first skateboarding gold. Miharu Ozawa continued her breakout season with another women's BMX park victory, Chloe Covell and Ginwoo Onodera delivered key wins for XC New York, while Sky Brown, Marcus Christopher and Mizuho Hasegawa also claimed gold.

The weekend also pushed progression in action sports, with Mike Varga landing the first competition 900 decade, Momiji Nishiya and Juni Kang unveiling X Games-first tricks and Gui Khury extending his Vert Best Trick dominance with a seventh straight title. With just one stop remaining, both the team championship and individual MVP races remained wide open.

Heading into the final day of competition at X Games New Orleans 2026, XC New York (2,280) had a slim lead over XC Tokyo (2,260). XC São Paulo (2,120) and XC Los Angeles (2,050) remain within striking distance, while the individual MVP race is led by Mizuho Hasegawa ahead of Gui Khury. Thursday featured Garrett Reynolds extending his all-time record with a 19th career X Games gold in BMX Street, hometown favorite Wyatt Fontenot earning his first gold in Moto X Best Whip, Jack Ward winning the inaugural Scooter Park Best Trick competition, Hasegawa capturing Women's Skateboard Vert and Juni Kang completing a season sweep of Men's Street Best Trick.

Saturday continued the momentum with Mia Kretzer landing a never-before-done fakie body varial 720 to win Women's Vert Best Trick, Ryan Williams claiming BMX Park Best Trick, Gui Khury extending his Vert Best Trick streak to eight consecutive victories, Ginwoo Onodera winning a third straight Men's Street title, Jose Canosa landing a never-before-done frontflip double seatgrab Indian air to win Moto X Best Trick, Brady Baker becoming the first four-time BMX Dirt champion, Tom Schaar earning his third Men's Skateboard Park gold and Chloe Covell delivering a clutch Women's Street victory that propelled XC New York into first place.

Sunday featured seven events, meaning there were 21 podium positions up for grabs to add crucial points in the final sprint toward the championship.

In the end, XC New York came out on top with 2,640 points, edging past XC Tokyo by a mere 10 points. Hannah Roberts contributed 60 points for XC New York with her Women's BMX Park bronze while competing on a broken tibia. Heili Sirviö added 60 more with Women's Skateboard Park bronze. Momiji Nishiya's Women's Skateboard Park Best Trick gold was a major contributor to her team's final result, earning 100 points.

With injuries to Huston and Martin and Roberts and Sandoval competing with major injuries, XC New York general manager Steve Rodriguez was able to call up free agents from the pool of athletes who declared for the draft. These athletes included Julian Agliardi (Skate, USA), Paige Heyn (Skate, USA) and Jagger Eaton (Skate, USA).
