Munetaka Murakami's Parents Throw Out 1st Pitch in Video Before White Sox Star's Bobblehead Game

It was a family affair for Chicago White Sox slugger Munetaka Murakami during his first career MLB bobblehead giveaway on Sunday.

The White Sox brought in Murakami's parents to throw out the first pitch as part of the pregame festivities before their game against the Houston Astros.

Chicago was giving away Murakami bobbleheads modeled off his first MLB homer hit against the Milwaukee Brewers on March 26.

Murakami's mom, Fumiyo, threw the first pitch to her son, while his father, Kimiya, tossed his pitch to Murakami's interpreter, Kenzo Yagi.

The White Sox might want to bring Murakami's parents back to the park soon. He responded to their presence by hitting two homers on Sunday, snapping his 13-game homerless drought that dates back to May 28.

Murakami missed 35 games from May 30-July 9 due to a strained hamstring. He was hitting just .184/.354/.289 in 11 games since returning from the IL prior to Sunday.

The 26-year-old is up to 22 homers in his debut MLB season. He is eight away from becoming the fourth White Sox player to hit at least 30 in their rookie campaign.

Murakami's two dingers led the White Sox to a 12-3 win over Houston. They are now 55-49 overall this season, five wins away from tying their total from all of 2025.
