Jacob Misiorowski Posts Historic Start During Brewers vs. Rockies, Wild Stat for 103+ MPH Pitches

It's safe to assume the arm fatigue that kept Milwaukee Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski from appearing in the All-Star Game is not an issue anymore.

Misiorowski opened Sunday's game against the Colorado Rockies by retiring the first 14 hitters he faced, including 12 via strikeout.

The Miz opened the game with 16 pitches in the first inning, 13 of which were fastballs clocked at over 103 mph.

The Rockies were able to breakthrough in the top of the fifth when Cole Carrigg hit a 102 mph fastball from Misiorowski just over the fence in left field for a solo homer.

That was the lone blemish for Misiorowski during his five innings of work. He finished the day with 12 strikeouts and no walks with 83 pitches (59 strikes), of which 63 were at least 101 mph.

Sunday was Misiorowski's ninth game of the season with at least 10 strikeouts. He is now tied with Corbin Burnes (2022) and Ben Sheets (2024) for the most double-digit strikeout games in a single season in Brewers history.

There have been 21 games across MLB this season in which the starting pitcher recorded at least 12 strikeouts. Misiorowski now has three of those games, tied with Dylan Cease for most in the league.

The Brewers held Misiorowski out from his scheduled start on July 12 and he opted not to participate in the All-Star Game, when he almost certainly would have been the NL starting pitcher, due to what was described as arm fatigue.

"He didn't recover well from his last start, and his throwing program was clunky today, so we're just going to give him some extra rest," Brewers manager Pat Murphy told reporters on July 11.

Misiorowski wound up getting nearly two full weeks off as a result, though he didn't have to go on the injured list. He has now made two starts since the All-Star break, recording 18 strikeouts and allowing one earned run over nine innings in those games.

After Sunday's outing, Misiorowski's ERA now sits at 1.58 with 185 strikeouts over 120 innings in 2026.
