Cody Bellinger Injured, Latest Updates on Yankees Star's Status After Exiting vs. Phillies

Zach BacharJul 26, 2026

New York Yankees star Cody Bellinger is going on the injured list and will be replaced by Spencer Jones on the active roster, per Jon Heyman of MLB Network.

Bellinger exited the team's 3-1 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday due to a hamstring injury. He provided an update on Sunday night:

The outfielder appeared to suffer the injury while running to second base after hitting a double in the top of the eighth inning. He was taken out in the bottom of the frame.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone discussed Bellinger's hamstring after the game.

"Looks like it could be something," Boone said, per Joyce.

He went 2-for-4 with one RBI prior to leaving the game.

New York is already dealing with injury woes this season, as three-time American League MVP Aaron Judge hasn't played since May 31 due to aย rib injury.

The Yankees have still been able to compile a 59-45 record and stay in the AL postseason picture largely due to the efforts of Bellinger, who earned his third career All-Star nod in 2026.

He's hitting .259 with 11 home runs, 21 doubles and 53 RBI this year.

Bellinger has been particularly sharp at the plate as of late, posting a .353 batting average and an .877 OPS in his last 10 games heading into Saturday's action.

Availability also hasn't been a major issue for the 31-year-old recently, as he played 152 games during his 2025 campaign before suiting up in 102 of the Yankees' first 104 games this season.

Jones will now get another chance at playing time with Bellinger sidelined. The 25-year-old had a .224 average with two home runs across 31 games earlier in the season for the Yankees.
