Devey is survived by his parents, his wife and four children.

Devey's mother, Leslie, told Fox 13 in Salt Lake City that the family believes he suffered from CTE, but the manner in which he died will prevent testing for the disease.

Devey, who played collegiately for Snow College and Memphis, played seven seasons in the NFL, appearing in 44 games for five teams. He started his career with the New England Patriots and played in seven regular-season games in 2014, when they won the Super Bowl.

He started nine games with the San Francisco 49ers in 2015 and went on to play for the Raiders before retiring in 2021 after playing one game for the Buffalo Bills.

Following his retirement, Devey and his family settled in Idaho, where he was a football coach at a local high school.
