Free Agent QB Jack Plummer Reportedly Will Work Out for 2 NFL Teams After Winning UFL MVP

After his success in the UFL, quarterback Jack Plummer is looking for a shot in the NFL.

Per Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 in Houston, the former UFL MVP will work out with the San Francisco 49ers on Friday and the Miami Dolphins next week.

Plummer, 26, played collegiately for Purdue, Cal and Louisville. In his final season at the college level in 2023, he threw for 3,204 yards, 21 touchdowns and 12 interceptions as the Cardinals finished 10-4.

After going undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft, Plummer signed with the Carolina Panthers, where he was later designated to the practice squad. He made his way to the active roster late in the season, but was waived last August.

Plummer joined the Orlando Storm of the UFL in January and found immediate success. He led the league in passing yards with 2,188 in 10 games, and he had the second-most touchdowns with 17. He also recorded just one interception as the Storm finished with the best record in the UFL.

Plummer wouldn't be the first player to make the transition from the UFL to the NFL, but he could be the first quarterback to truly establish himself on a roster.

Some recent quarterbacks who made the jump include Dresser Winn (Rams) and Bryce Perkins (Panthers), both of whom joined the NFL last year. Neither stuck around past the 2025 campaign, though.

Hunter Dekkers also signed with the New Orleans Saints in June after spending last year in the UFL.

Plummer would have plenty of competition in San Francisco with both Brock Purdy and Mac Jones on the roster. He'd likely have a better shot of getting playing time in Miami since the Dolphins have Malik Willis under center but a young Quinn Ewers as his backup.
