Blackhawks Call Out Fan Who Promised to Get Tattoo if Patrick Kane Signed Contract With Team

The Chicago Blackhawks are ready for a fan who made a bet on Patrick Kane re-signing with his former team to pay up.

The franchise responded Thursday to a fan claiming they would get a tattoo celebrating the Hawks as the 2027 Stanley Cup champions should Kane re-sign in Chicago.

The Blackhawks announced Thursday that Kane will return to Chicago on a two-year, $8 million contract.

Kane played the first 15 and a half seasons of his NHL career in Chicago, where he joined former team captain Jonathan Toews in leading the Blackhawks to three Stanley Cups.

After winning three championships in a span of six seasons between 2010 and 2015, Kane led the 2015-16 NHL with 106 points on his way to winning the Hart and Art Ross trophies.

His first stint in Chicago ended when the rebuilding Hawks traded Kane to the New York Rangers in the final year of his expiring contract.

After a brief stint with the Rangers, Kane underwent hip resurfacing surgery in 2023.

He made an unprecedented comeback from the procedure with the Red Wings and went on to play three seasons with the team, most recently recording 57 points (16 goals, 41 assists) in 67 games of the 2025-26 campaign.

Kane may no longer be a Hart frontrunner, but he's heading into his age-38 season as a consistent even-strength producer for a team that will be in need of scoring help early in the 2026-27 campaign.

Hawks star Connor Bedard underwent shoulder surgery earlier this month that is set to sideline him for the beginning of the season.

Kane will be asked to help fill in for that missing production early in the season before potentially getting a chance to play on Bedard's wing later in the campaign.

The Blackhawks are hoping that will help get this team closer to contending after four straight seasons of finishing in the basement of the Central Division.
