Caitlin Clark Reveals What Drew 7th Technical Foul of 2026 WNBA Season, Talks Potential Suspension

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark may need to be more judicious with her trash talk after earning her seventh technical foul of the season in Wednesday's 123-88 win over the Connecticut Sun.

As the third quarter drew to a close, Clark and Sun guard Saniya Rivers exchanged pleasantries, and the referees assessed technicals to both players.

"She said she was locking me up, so I said, 'Scoreboard,' and the ref didn't like that," Clark told reporters in her post-game press conference.

The three-time All-Star is now one technical foul away from triggering an automatic one-game suspension. After that, every second tech results in another one-game ban.

"I'm never going to back down," Clark said of her situation. "I think just continue to try to control your emotions the best you can. That intensity and that fire is what makes me me, but also knowing my team needs me and finding a good balance of that. But I don't think I'm going to be playing with that in the back of my head."

The Fever don't play again until July 28 with the WNBA getting its All-Star break underway. If Clark wants to be strategic, she may want to commit a technical-worthy offense in Indiana's next game.

The team opens August with matchups against the Minnesota Lynx and Las Vegas Aces. The Fever would be at a serious disadvantage if they have to play one of the WNBA's best teams without Clark in the lineup.
