Carson Beck, Cardinals Agree to Rookie Contract Ahead of QB1 Training Camp Battle

The Arizona Cardinals confirmed Wednesday they officially signed third-round pick Carson Beck.

Given his draft position, the rookie wage scale locked him in at a $7.4 million contract over four years.

Signing Beck comes as the Cardinals are locked in a standoff with Jacoby Brissett. Ian Rapoport of ESPN and NFL Network reported on The Pat McAfee Show the two sides have yet to make a breakthrough:

Brissett is set to earn $5.4 million in 2026 between his base salary and various bonuses. He's not even going to be the highest-earning QB on his own team, with Gardner Minshew in line to collect $5.8 million.

The situation is creating a little more intrigue as it relates to Beck, especially when it's plausible that he could be elevated to the starting role eventually, even if Brissett gets a slight pay raise.

Perhaps Arizona exceeds expectations to open the new season, but this looks like it will be a rebuilding year. The Cardinals sit 31st in Bleacher Report's power rankings heading into training camp.

Assuming they're out of the playoff race by mid-to-late November, they'll have little reason not to give Beck a shot when he's the only viable long-term solution under center. Especially if Arizona is trending toward having a high pick in the 2027 draft, getting him some reps would be a smart call.

If Beck looks unimpressive, then the team can head into next spring knowing it needs a true franchise QB.

For now, his focus will be on impressing the coaches at training camp ahead of Week 1, and signing his contract removes any doubt as to his availability moving forward.

Assuming he doesn't win the starting job straight out of the gate, his shot may still come.
