Joshua Kuroda-Grauer Undergoes Surgery on Ruptured Testicle Injury After Exiting A's vs. D-Backs
Athletics infielder Joshua Kuroda-Grauer has been placed on the 10-day injured list following surgery after suffering a ruptured testicle.
Kuroda-Grauer suffered the injury after hitting a foul ball off his groin area during his team's 5-2 road win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday.
The 23-year-old Kuroda-Grauer is the No. 8 prospect in the Athletics' organization, per MLB.com. He made his major league debut on June 29 and has enjoyed great success, hitting .417 (25-of-60) with a homer, four RBI and a 1.019 OPS.
Kuroda-Grauer hit that homer when he led off the top of the second inning of Monday's game.
The injury occurred during his third at-bat, which took place in the fifth frame.
Despite the ailment, Kuroda-Grauer finished the at-bat and even hit a single. He remained in the game at third base in the bottom of the fifth, but Donovan Walton replaced Kuroda-Grauer in the lineup in the bottom of the sixth.
In a corresponding move, the Athletics have called up Max Muncy to take Kuroda-Grauer's place on the active roster. The 23-year-old Muncy, who is in his second season, has hit .227 (.699 OPS) with five home runs and 20 RBI in 46 MLB games this year.
