Dolphins' Jordyn Brooks Lands New Contract, Full Details on Money and Years for Extension Revealed

Veteran linebacker Jordyn Brooks is cashing in on his career year in 2025.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Brooks, who was eligible for free agency next spring, agreed to a three-year, $51.3 million extension with the Miami Dolphins. The deal includes $35 million guaranteed.

With the new contract, the All-Pro becomes the fifth-highest-paid linebacker in the league.

Brooks led the league with 183 combined tackles, which tied for the 10th-most in a single season since the NFL started tracking the stat in 1987. He added 3.5 sacks, one forced fumble and broke up three passes.

Heading into the 2026 season, the 28-year-old made his debut in the NFL Top 100 and cracked the list at No. 67.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler also ranked him as the seventh-best off-ball linebacker based on input from executives, coaches and scouts around the NFL.

"Brooks has a skill set similar to Demario Davis when he was young — really strong, fast, physical, can play in space, very good tackler," one coordinator said.

The Dolphins made it clear how much they valued Brooks when they kept him on the roster this late into the offseason.

Miami is hitting the reset button with a new head coach (Jeff Hafley) and general manager (Jon-Eric Sullivan). This was a great time to cash in on Brooks' trade value and lean into the rebuild, which the team did by sending Jaylen Waddle to the Denver Broncos. Instead, the veteran defender stuck around.

Now, Brooks has a contract befitting how much he means to the franchise on the field.
