New Yankees Trade Rumors on 'Key Pieces' Spencer Jones, Jasson Domínguez Ahead of MLB Deadline 2026
The New York Yankees are reportedly willing to give up some of their top young prospects in hopes of improving their roster this season.
According to baseball reporter Francys Romero, outfielders Spencer Jones and Jasson Domínguez are "two of the key pieces" that the Yankees are planning to use as trade assets ahead of the Aug. 3 deadline.
After making his major-league debut in 2023, Domínguez was ranked by MLB.com as New York's No. 1 overall prospect in both 2024 and 2025. Jones, who received his first major-league call-up this past May, was ranked as the team's No. 6 prospect entering the 2026 campaign.
The Yankees have historically hesitated to trade away their top prospects, but the throes of the 2026 season seem to have changed the philosophy in New York.
At 55-44, the Yankees are 1.5 games behind the Tampa Bay Rays (56-42) for first place in the AL East. The team received some bad news over the weekend when star outfielder and captain Aaron Judge was moved to the 60-day injured list while he continues his recovery from a fractured rib. It was announced that the three-time AL MVP will need another scan before a major ramp-up of activity.
The Yankees were 36-23 when Judge last played but have gone 19-20 in his absence. It's clear that New York will need to make some changes if it hopes to contend for a World Series title this season, so it can be expected that it will be one of the most aggressive teams ahead of the trade deadline.
