New Saints Rumors on Chris Olave's Contract Extension Ahead of 2nd Season with QB Tyler Shough
New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave is entering the final year of his rookie contract, but it sounds like he could be getting paid soon.
The Athletic's Larry Holder reported that the Saints will likely reward Olave with a contract extension within the next couple of months.
"There's an expectation that this should happen before the start of the 2026 campaign," Holder stated. "Once a deal occurs, all eyes will be on the receiver as he's clearly the top option for second-year quarterback Tyler Shough."

After an injury-riddled 2024 campaign, Olave bounced back with his best season with the Saints last year, producing 100 receptions, 1,163 yards and nine touchdowns. He and Shough quickly developed a strong rapport, fueling optimism that the future in New Orleans is bright.
Still, Holder added that the Saints want to ensure that Olave can consistently produce at the level of a No. 1 receiver to prove that he deserves a contract extension.
"He'll need to maintain that pace, and stay healthy, to live up to a hefty payday," Holder stated.
