MLB Power Rankings for All 30 Teams 1 Week from 2026 Trade Deadline

The 2026 MLB trade deadline is just one week away, which means it's put up or shut up time for the long list of teams hovering around the .500 mark and walking the line between buyer and seller.

Entering play on Monday, a whopping 23 of the 30 teams across baseball were within five games of a playoff spot.

That could mean a quiet trade deadline, but it could also spark a bidding war for the few impact players who are made available. It might even convince a few teams to do some opportunistic selling of controllable pieces in what is clearly a seller's market.

For now, let's reset the board with an updated look at how all 30 teams stack up as the rumor mill kicks into high gear.

30. Athletics (44-61)

Last Week: 1-2 @ ARI, 1-2 @ MIN

With a 4-19 record over their last 23 games, the Athletics have gone from hovering around the .500 mark to the worst team in baseball by a significant margin. On a positive note, Nick Kurtz returned to action on Saturday after missing 11 games and a chance to play in his first All-Star Game with a right thumb injury.

29. Colorado Rockies (42-65)

Last Week: 1-2 vs. WAS, 1-2 @ MIL

It's another lost season for the Rockies, and the question now is how aggressive the new front office led by Paul DePodesta will be at the trade deadline. All-Star Hunter Goodman is their highest-profile trade chip, but outfielders Jake McCarthy and Mickey Moniak should also generate plenty of interest.

28. Los Angeles Angels (42-64)

Last Week: 2-1 vs. STL, 1-2 @ SF

While pitchers Reid Detmers and José Soriano have been the most frequently mentioned trade chips on the Angels roster, the rumblings are growing louder surrounding shortstop Zach Neto. The 25-year-old is controllable through 2029 and has quietly piled up 13.2 WAR since the start of the 2024 season, so expect a sky-high asking price.

27. San Francisco Giants (44-61)

Last Week: 0-3 @ KC, 2-1 vs. LAA

As if there was any doubt the Giants would be sellers, they suffered their seventh series sweep of the year at the hands of the Royals in Kansas City last week. Luis Arraez and Robbie Ray are both expected to be on the move at the deadline, and recent reports indicate contenders are also paying close attention to Heliot Ramos and Casey Schmitt.

26. New York Mets (44-62)

Last Week: 1-2 @ MIL, 1-2 vs. LAD

Behind a terrific start from rookie Zac Thornton (6.0 IP, 3 H, 0 ER) on Tuesday and an eight-run offensive outburst on Sunday, the Mets at least managed to avoid getting swept by the two best teams in baseball. Is there a blockbuster trade coming at the deadline, or will they just sell off expiring contracts and limp to the finish line?

25. Toronto Blue Jays (48-58)

Last Week: 1-3 vs. TB, 1-2 @ BOS

The Blue Jays were 39-39 and staked to the No. 3 wild-card spot on June 22. Since that point, they have gone 9-19 and fallen completely out of the playoff race, and now they are faced with the difficult reality of selling at the deadline a year after reaching Game 7 of the World Series.

24. Kansas City Royals (45-62)

Last Week: 3-0 vs. SF, 2-2 @ DET

With a 7-3 record in their last 10 games and a pair of series wins during that stretch, the Royals look like they might be a thorn in the side of contenders in the coming months. Veteran starters Michael Wacha and Seth Lugo will be popular names at the trade deadline, while Lane Thomas could also generate interest.

23. Miami Marlins (52-54)

Last Week: 0-3 @ HOU, 0-3 vs. SD

After going 16-4 over a 20-game stretch as arguably the hottest team in baseball, the Marlins are in an absolute free fall right now as they have been swept in four consecutive series for a 12-game losing streak overall. Comfortably in the playoff picture at the end of that hot streak, they now look like potential deadline sellers. Who's ready for a fresh round of Sandy Alcantara trade rumors?

22. Baltimore Orioles (51-55)

Last Week: 1-2 @ BOS, 1-2 vs. ATL

A season-high, seven-game winning streak briefly vaulted the Orioles into the upper half of these rankings, but they promptly crashed back to earth last week with a pair of series losses. Teams hoping to make a run at trading for Trevor Rogers or Taylor Ward will be rooting for a few more losses in the coming days.

21. Seattle Mariners (52-54)

Last Week: 1-2 vs. CIN, 1-2 @ TEX

The Mariners have lost four of their last five series, but they still sit just 1.5 games back in the AL West standings, so despite their sub-.500 record, there's a good chance they will be deadline buyers. Cole Young batting leadoff and Dominic Canzone hitting third speaks to how far from preseason expectations things have drifted offensively.

20. Cincinnati Reds (49-55)

Last Week: 2-1 @ SEA, 2-1 @ STL

The Reds improved to 27-27 on the road with Sunday's victory over the Cardinals, and no opposing pitcher wants to toe the rubber at Great American Ball Park, so expect them to continue to be pesky. Breakout ace Chase Burns is now 12-1 with a 2.42 ERA and 124 strikeouts in 107.2 innings, and the seven-year, $105 million extension he signed earlier this month has a chance to be an absolute steal.

19. San Diego Padres (53-53)

Last Week: 1-3 @ ATL, 3-0 @ MIA

The Padres pulled back to .500 on the season with their weekend sweep of the beleaguered Marlins, but their 22-38 record against teams with a winning record speaks to how this team fits into the contender conversation. With that in mind, don't be surprised if we see another Mason Miller blockbuster this summer.

18. Texas Rangers (53-52)

Previous Rank: No. 18
Last Week: 1-2 vs. CWS, 2-1 vs. SEA

Sitting one game over .500 with a minus-25 run differential, the Rangers are baseball's most unlikely division leaders. That said, if they can sneak into the postseason, the trio of Jacob deGrom, Nathan Eovaldi and MacKenzie Gore paired with All-Star closer Jacob Latz has a chance to make some noise.

17. Houston Astros (52-55)

Last Week: 3-0 vs. MIA, 2-1 @ CWS

The Astros continue to do just enough to hang around in the gray area between buyer and seller, as they won five in a row last week and are just two games back in the AL West standings. A big three-game series with the Rangers at home awaits this weekend as they look to seize control of a wide-open division race.

16. St. Louis Cardinals (53-52)

Last Week: 1-2 @ LAA, 0-1 vs. ARI, 1-2 vs. CIN

The Cardinals have spent most of the season exceeding expectations, but a 9-14 record in July has put them in a tricky position at the trade deadline. The most likely outcome will be that they simply hold and give the young guys a chance to make a push down the stretch, though a rocky week ahead could mean Dustin May hits the trade block as a high-value rental arm.

15. Detroit Tigers (50-56)

Last Week: 2-1 @ CHC, 2-2 vs. KC

The Tarik Skubal trade rumors have been going strong since the Tigers stumbled through a 6-22 month of May, but they have steadily climbed back into the outskirts of the playoff picture. With a 13-7 record in July, they are now 3.5 games back in the wild-card standings with a 33.1 percent chance of making the playoffs. Standing pat is not out of the question, which would be a major blow to the trade market.

14. Minnesota Twins (53-54)

Previous Rank: No. 19

Last Week: 2-2 @ CLE, 2-1 vs. ATH

Ace Joe Ryan was scratched from his start on Sunday with arm fatigue, and while he is not expected to need more than a few extra days of rest, it does add another layer to his trade deadline profile. With the Twins playing as well as anyone in the AL Central right now, they might be more inclined to buy or hold than to sell.

13. Cleveland Guardians (54-53)

Previous Rank: No. 12

Last Week: 2-2 vs. MIN, 0-3 @ TB

The Guardians playoff chances fell from 62.0 to 48.8 percent after getting swept by the Rays, though they did welcome back José Ramírez from the injured list last week. The face of the franchise missed 30 games with a broken hamate bone in his left hand, and his return to action will be more impactful than anything they decide to do at the deadline.

12. Pittsburgh Pirates (54-52)

Last Week: 1-2 @ NYY, 1-2 vs. CHC

The Pirates will face the D-backs and Reds this week as they make one final pitch to the tight-fisted ownership group to be aggressive buyers at the trade deadline. Upgrading a bullpen that ranks 24th in the majors with a 4.53 ERA and has converted just 21 of 40 save chances sits atop the to-do list if they do end up adding to the roster.

11. Arizona Diamondbacks (55-51)

Last Week: 2-1 vs. ATH, 1-0 @ STL, 1-2 @ WAS

A 10-4 record in their last 14 games has pushed Arizona toward the top of a long list of teams sitting just above the .500 mark. In a fun turn of events, Merrill Kelly and two of the prospects the D-backs acquired in exchange for Kelly in last year's deadline deal with the Rangers—Mitch Bratt and Kohl Drake—currently make up 60 percent of Arizona's rotation.

10. Washington Nationals (54-52)

Previous Rank: No. 16
Last Week: 2-1 @ COL, 2-1 vs. ARI

In nine games since starting the All-Star Game at shortstop for the National League, CJ Abrams is hitting .487/.512/1.128 with seven home runs and 15 RBI as the Nationals continue to hang onto relevance. They reportedly plan to buy and sell at the deadline, and the one-for-one swap of Curtis Mead for Connelly Early with the Red Sox has a chance to be an absolute heist.

9. Chicago White Sox (55-49)

Last Week: 2-1 @ TEX, 1-2 vs. HOU

The White Sox have played .500 baseball in July, but they have actually gained ground in the AL Central standings, with their division lead growing from two games to 2.5 games. They acquired José Urquidy in an under-the-radar deal with the Pirates last week, and figure to continue looking for ways to bolster the pitching staff without selling the farm.

8. Philadelphia Phillies (57-49)

Previous Rank: No. 6
Last Week: 1-2 vs. LAD, 1-2 vs. NYY

After playing host to this year's All-Star Game, the Phillies have dropped three straight series to begin the second half and all of them have come at Citizens Bank Park. Perhaps some time on the road, where they are 29-22 on the year, will do some good when they travel to Miami and Baltimore this week. A right fielder and back-end starter remain the obvious items on their deadline wish list.

7. Chicago Cubs (59-46)

Last Week: 1-2 vs. DET, 2-1 @ PIT

With a 4.5-game cushion in the wild-card standings, the Cubs are obvious buyers, and pitching will be their focus. Since getting shelled for 10 earned runs in 3.2 innings on July 3, scrapheap pickup David Peterson has allowed five hits and one run in 11.2 innings in his last two outings as he suddenly looks like a viable rotation piece.

6. Boston Red Sox (54-50)

Last Week: 2-1 vs. BAL, 2-1 vs. TOR

The Red Sox winning streak ended at 15 in a row when they dropped the second game of a doubleheader last Wednesday, but they have still won six straight series while seemingly shaking off their season-long struggles at home. They traded from an area of strength in the deal that sent Connelly Early to the Nationals for Curtis Mead, though time will tell if this was an ill-advised overpay.

5. New York Yankees (59-46)

Previous Rank: No. 8
Last Week: 2-1 vs. PIT, 2-1 @ PHI

The Yankees are 9-4 in their last 13 games and once again looking like a top-tier contender in the American League after a rocky stretch at the end of June and into early July. With Aaron Judge still sidelined, losing Cody Bellinger to a hamstring injury over the weekend was a significant blow, and Spencer Jones now has a few days to prove he can make an impact before they explore outside additions.

4. Tampa Bay Rays (62-43)

Last Week: 3-1 @ TOR, 3-0 vs. CLE

The Rays rebounded from a five-game losing streak with a 6-1 week, halting the slide before they lost control of the AL East standings. It's always hard to gauge how they will approach the trade deadline, but this certainly looks like a roster that could be dramatically upgraded with one or two more quality bats.

3. Atlanta Braves (62-43)

Last Week: 3-1 vs. SD, 2-1 @ BAL

The Braves spent 11 weeks slotted into the No. 1 or No. 2 spot in these rankings before stumbling a bit and falling as low as No. 8. Now they have climbed back into the upper echelon thanks to a 13-9 record in July and three straight series wins. A playoff-caliber starter to slot behind Chris Sale in the rotation looks like the most obvious missing piece.

2. Milwaukee Brewers (66-39)

Previous Rank: No. 2
Last Week: 2-1 vs. NYM, 2-1 vs. COL

With a plus-142 run differential and the best ERA in the National League (3.43), the Brewers have narrowed the gap to just a half-game for the best record in baseball. Rookies Cooper Pratt (116 PA, .290/.362/.410, 7 XBH) and Luis Lara (40 PA, .303/.400/.424, 4 XBH) have both settled nicely into regular roles, as the in-house pipeline continues to churn out impact talent.

1. Los Angeles Dodgers (67-39)

Last Week: 2-1 @ PHI, 2-1 @ NYM

The Dodgers continue piling up wins, and with Blake Snell currently on a rehab assignment and Tyler Glasnow facing live hitters, they are inching closer to some major in-house reinforcement. That won't stop them from making a splash at the trade deadline, and a loaded farm system should make them major players for anyone they decide to zero in on.
