Mets' Francisco Lindor Reacts to MLB Trade Rumors Ahead of 2026 Deadline

For perhaps the first time since joining the New York Mets, Francisco Lindor finds his name in trade rumors leading up to the deadline.

But the star shortstop is unfazed by the rumors, calling it an "unnecessary distraction."

"It doesn't bother me when it's coming from outside sources. When it's more inside, that would bother me. But that's not happening," Lindor told reporters Sunday. "I try to stay away from it. I try not to read it or really talk about it. It's just unnecessary distraction. But I am human. I have a family and they all talk and they all hear it. But since it's not happening in here, it's ok."

With the Mets sitting at 42-58, their postseason hopes are virtually shot, and the focus is starting to shift to 2027. SNY's Chelsea Janes reported earlier this week that New York is open to moving everyone outside of Carson Benge, A.J. Ewing, Christian Scott, Nolan McLean and Juan Soto.

The team hasn't explicitly put Lindor—who has a full no-trade clause—on the trade market, but Janes noted that "no one has said he is off the table either."

That means Lindor's time with the Mets could come to an end in the coming weeks. Until then, he'll look to block out the external noise.
