Paige Bueckers Injured in Collision with Nneka Ogwumike, Latest Updates on Wings Star After Exiting

Paige Bueckers exited Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Sparks after a scary collision with Nneka Ogwumike.

The Dallas Wings star was playing defense when Ogwumike tripped into her, leading Bueckers to hit the court hard. She appeared to be holding her head after the collision. Ogwumike also exited the game.

Wings head coach Jose Fernandez did not have an update after the game but told reporters there would be one later on Sunday.

Bueckers had been tremendous for Dallas before the injury, posting 25 points on 10-of-18 from the field while adding five assists and four rebounds. The Wings' Arike Ogunbowale put up 20 points to help seal the win for her squad without Bueckers down the stretch.

Ogwumike also had a solid game for the Sparks, scoring a team-high 17 points.

Bueckers, the reigning Rookie of the Year, has had an MVP-caliber second season, averaging 20.7 points, 6.3 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game. Her play has helped the Wings jump out to a 17-8 start that has them in fourth place in the WNBA standings after finishing 10-34 a year ago.

Dallas' win streak reached six games with Sunday's victory, and it will look to keep it going on Monday against the New York Liberty. It is the first time since the Wings moved to Dallas that they have won six consecutive games.

But the Wings' success relies heavily on Bueckers' health, so they'll hope she avoids missing any time. With Sunday being the first game of a back-to-back, it wouldn't be surprising to see Bueckers miss Monday's contest.

If Bueckers is sidelined this week, the offensive load in the backcourt will be heavily placed on both Ogunbowale and Azzi Fudd. Both guards are putting up 13.3 points per game this season, averaging about 30 minutes per game.
