Fantasy Football 2026 Early Mock Draft Heading into Training Camp

Kristopher KnoxJul 20, 2026

With some NFL rookies having already reported to training camp, fantasy draft season is officially here. Veterans for all 32 teams will be in camp within the next couple of weeks, and the Hall of Fame Game will begin the preseason on August 6.

While it's always better to draft later in the preseason—to avoid the risk of injuries or changing roles impacting draft value—it's never too early to examine the draft landscape.

Here, we'll dive into a 12-team, point-per-reception (PPR) mock draft conducted with FantasyPros' Mock Draft Simulator. We'll examine how the early rounds unfolded and preview a couple of position battles worth tracking in camp.

Minnesota Vikings QB Battle

The Minnesota Vikings are set to have one of the most exciting quarterback competitions of training camp, and there are a couple of reasons why it's worth watching. The first is that the battle between free-agent addition Kyler Murray and 2024 first-round pick J.J. McCarthy will inevitably impact top skill players like Justin Jefferson, who went 10th overall in the mock we examined.

Jefferson had an underwhelming season while McCarthy struggled this past season, but he tallied 1,533 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns in 2024 when Minnesota got steady QB play from Sam Darnold.

The hope, of course, is that Murray will either win the job or push McCarthy to provide the sort of quarterback stability the Vikings lacked in 2025.

The second reason is the reality that if Murray does win the starting job, he could become a viable fantasy starter. The dynamic dual-threat was once a Pro Bowl talent and would bring a new skill set to Minnesota.

"I think he will definitely be the starter, but he will bring an ingredient to the Vikings offense that we haven't had in years, and that's a guy who is built to run," former Vikings receiver Cris Carter told NFL Network.

If Murray can make the most of Jefferson, Jordan Addison, T.J. Hockenson, Jauan Jennings, and Kevin O'Connell's offense—while regularly chewing up yards on the run—he could prove to be one of the top value selections in fantasy this season.

Seattle Seahawks RB Battle

Seahawks running back Jadarian Price, right, and running back Emanuel Wilson take part in practice at the team's training faility, Tuesday, June 9

Rookie running backs can provide strong fantasy value when they see a high volume of opportunities. Ashton Jeanty, for example, was saddled with a bad offensive line and in a bad overall Las Vegas Raiders offense but still ranked 11th among RBs in PPR leagues last season.

Seattle Seahawks rookie Jadarian Price might not see the every-down role that Jeanty saw last season. Seattle has George Holani and added Emanuel Wilson before drafting Price. With Zach Charbonet recovering from a torn ACL that he suffered in the playoffs, however, Price could see a pretty substantial role.

Price will be particularly valuable in fantasy if he wins the RB1 job coming out of training camp—though he certainly won't be handed it.

"We'll see how it shakes out in other phases, but he's going to come in and compete with the rest of the guys," head coach Mike Mcdonald said, per Ari Horton of the team's official website.

Right now, Price isn't being targeted early in many fantasy drafts and holds an average draft position of just 84, according to FantasyPros. If he can claim the starting gig in Seattle's talented offense, though, he could outperform his draft status by a wide margin.
