Former QB Jared Lorenzen Wants Jets to Sign Him in Light of Geno Smith Injury
August 12, 2015
When Geno Smith suffered a broken jaw—which will sideline him for six to 10 weeks—during an altercation with linebacker IK Enemkpali in the New York Jets locker room Tuesday, Jared Lorenzen saw an opportunity.
The 34-year-old, who is known as "Hefty Lefty," spent four seasons with the New York Giants, earning a ring as Eli Manning's backup in Super Bowl XLII.
He has been out of the NFL since 2008, but after a handful of seasons in and out of indoor-league play, Lorenzen thinks he's ready.
He has a couple of strong selling points: He looks good in green and already has some branding.
