Dallas Wings guard Paige Bueckers and Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark were the highest vote-getters among fans. As a result, they were assigned to Team Cooper and Team Weatherspoon respectively.

The Las Vegas Aces' Wilson going first overall was little surprise. She already made history by winning a fourth MVP in 2025, and she's on pace to add a fifth. The 6'4" center is leading the WNBA in scoring (25.5 points) and ranks third in rebounds (9.8).

Wilson will be lining up opposite her biggest on-court rival through the years. Cooper went for the New York Liberty's Breanna Stewart when she was on the clock for the first time. The two-time MVP is putting up 20.4 points and 8.4 rebounds per contest.

In general, Weatherspoon and Cooper did a good job of balancing out their teams.

Cooper got a pair of dynamic playmakers in Bueckers and the Fever's Kelsey Mitchell. Stewart and Atlanta Dream star Angel Reese can anchor the paint. And the Golden State Valkyries' Gabby Williams is one of the WNBA's elite perimeter defenders.

Weatherspoon can counter with a formidable frontcourt trio of Wilson, Aliyah Boston and Jessica Shepard, while Clark and Olivia Miles is an exciting guard tandem.

Four players will make their first appearance in the All-Star Game: Shepard, Miles, Marina Mabrey and Dominique Malonga.

Shepard and Mabrey, who were college teammates at Notre Dame, are experienced vets in the midst of career years.

Mabrey in particular is thriving on the expansion Toronto Tempo. She ranks third in the league in scoring average at 21 points per game.

Having excelled in a bench role before, Shepard is proving she's more than just a super sub with 15 points and 11.6 rebounds in 32.8 minutes a night.

Miles and Malonga are young stars on the rise.

Miles is the clear front-runner for Rookie of the Year, having averaged 19.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 5.7 assists to this point. She has stepped up in a big way for the Minnesota Lynx, who continue to be without Napheesa Collier.

Malonga is showcasing why she generated so much excitement heading into the 2025 draft. The 6'6" center is averaging 15.5 points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.2 blocks, and she's shooting 36.7 percent from beyond the arc.

Fans should get accustomed to seeing Miles and Malonga during All-Star Weekend a lot more into the future.

Cooper and Weatherspoon's squads will square off on July 25 at United Center in Chicago. Wintrust Arena will host the Three Point Contest and Shooting Stars competition a night earlier.

The league has yet to announce the participants for either event. When it comes to the Three-Point Contest, New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu may be eager to defend her title and get one step closer to matching Allie Quigley's all-time record of four wins.
