Alexa Bliss Injury Update, WWE & AEW Rumors on Stephanie Vaquer's Return and Kevin Knight's Push
Bleacher Report catches you up on the latest news from the WWE Universe and All Elite Wrestling.
Bliss Wearing Brace After SmackDown Injury
After getting attacked on last week's episode of SmackDown by Jade Cargill, Alexa Bliss showed the effects of her injury on Tuesday.
In a video posted on her Instagram account, Bliss was seen wearing a brace on her arm:
Amid chaos outside the ring involving Charlotte Flair, Michin and B-Fab, Bliss lost her match to Cargill last week on SmackDown, but that wasn't the worst of her night.
While Michin and B-Fab held Flair back, Cargill trapped Bliss' arm in a steel chair and smashed it against the mat, causing Alexa to writhe in pain while her arm was hanging awkwardly.
In a subsequent post on X, Bliss shared photos of her badly bruised elbow as a result of the attack:
It is unclear what the injury might mean for Bliss and her presence on WWE programming heading toward SummerSlam, but all signs point toward a singles match between Cargill and Flair taking place at that event.
Given the uncertainty of injured WWE women's champion Rhea Ripley and her status, there could be a chance that Cargill vs. Flair even has the women's title hanging in the balance.
Regardless of the stakes, Jade vs. Charlotte is a SummerSlam-worthy match, and if Alexa is able to heal up in time and help her friend during the bout, she would be in line for a huge pop from the Minneapolis crowd.
Vaquer Reportedly Expected Back from Injury Soon
Stephanie Vaquer has been out of action since shortly after WrestleMania 42, but her absence reportedly could soon come to an end.
According to WrestleVotes on Fightful Select (h/t Geno Mrosko of Cageside Seats), Vaquer is expected to return "likely around SummerSlam, the week before or at SummerSlam."
Vaquer dropped the Women's World Championship to Liv Morgan at WrestleMania 42, but she confronted Morgan on the following episode of Raw, and it appeared as though a rematch was on the horizon.
However, one week later, Vaquer was attacked backstage by Judgment Day members Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez, and she has been on the shelf ever since with a shoulder injury.
During Vaquer's absence, Morgan entered the Queen of the Ring tournament and nearly won, but she fell to Iyo Sky in the final.
After beating Liv, Iyo decided to challenge her to a Women's World Championship at SummerSlam, and the rematch was quickly made official.
If there are plans for Vaquer to return at or around SummerSlam, having her neutralize The Judgment Day en route to Sky beating Morgan for the title would be a hugely impactful way to do it.
AEW's Reported Plans for Kevin Knight
There reportedly could be some huge matches and rivalries on tap for reigning AEW TNT champion Kevin Knight.
According to Fightful Select (h/t WrestlePurists), sources said Knight has been discussed for an AEW World Championship match, and it is possible the bout could take place at the upcoming Redemption pay-per-view.
Fightful added that Knight is also planned for programs with other "world title-level talent."
If Knight challenges for the AEW world title at Redemption in Montreal, it likely means that Kenny Omega will be his opponent.
Omega won the AEW World Championship from MJF last week on Dynamite, and Redemption could potentially represent his lone title defense before facing Will Ospreay in the likely main event of All In.
While Omega would almost certainly beat Knight in that scenario, Knight simply being part of such a big match would be a major vote of confidence in his future as a top star in AEW.
Knight has quickly risen through the ranks in AEW and has the makings of being a future world champion, so a title match against Omega would be a great way to get him acclimated to the main event scene.
