Djokovic Loses to Sinner, Updated Wimbledon Men's Tennis Bracket, Results
Jannik Sinner is one win away from capturing his second straight Wimbledon title after defeating Novak Djokovic in straight sets in the men's semifinal on Friday.
Sinner ended Djokovic's bid for an eighth title at the All England Club in a 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 victory. He will take on Alexander Zverev in the final.
The win extends Sinner's streak of consecutive victories at Wimbledon to 13. It's tied for the 13th-longest streak by a men's player in the history of the tournament.
This also marks the second consecutive year that Sinner has eliminated Djokovic in straight sets in the semifinal.
Friday's match was a serving masterpiece by Sinner, who had 14 aces to zero double faults. He won 87 percent of his first-serve points (40-of-46), while only facing one break-point attempt that he saved.
On the other side, Djokovic's serve was not doing much to throw Sinner off his game. The seven-time Wimbledon champion did have eight aces, but three double-faults and won just 15 of his 40 second-serve point opportunities.
Per ESPN, Sinner has joined exclusive company with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal as the only players with three straight-set wins over Djokovic in Grand Slam tournaments.
Sinner's first two straight-set wins over Djokovic came last year at the French Open and Wimbledon. He has now won six of their last seven head-to-head meetings dating back to 2023.
The lone win for Djokovic during that span was this year in the Australian Open semifinals.
One more win would make Sinner the 14th different men's player to win multiple Wimbledon titles in the Open Era. It would also mark the fifth Grand Slam singles title of his career before the age of 25.
To get there, Sinner will have to defeat Zverev in their first head-to-head meeting at Wimbledon. This will be their 15th meeting all time, with Sinner holding a 10-4 advantage.
Sinner has defeated Zverev in nine consecutive matches dating back to 2024. They gentlemen's final will be played on Sunday at 10 a.m. ET.
