Adam Schefter, ESPN Agree to Multiyear Contract Extension, Reportedly Makes $9M AAV Currently

Amid rumors about Pat McAfee working toward an extension of his current contract, ESPN has reached an agreement with its top NFL insider.

ESPN announced on Monday that it has signed Adam Scehfter to a multiyear extension:

That comes after Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports reported last week that the two sides were "closing in" on a new-long term extension that would run "several years" into the 2030s.

Terms of the agreement are unknown at this point. Andrew Marchand reported in 2022 when Schefter signed his most recent deal that he was earning around $9 million annually.

Marchand reported last month that McAfee was in discussions with ESPN about a new deal that would pay him in excess of $60 million per year and could include additional on-air responsibilities on top of his regular roles hosting his daily show and acting as an analyst on College Gameday.

Stephen A. Smith is currently the highest-paid on-air personality at ESPN after signing a five-year contract worth at least $100 million with the network in 2025. His other endeavors push his annual earnings up to around $40 million.

Schefter originally joined ESPN on a full-time basis in 2009. He previously appeared on the network sporadically as a guest on shows like Around the Horn and The Sports Reporters.
