New NHL Trade Rumors on Dylan Larkin's Updated Wish List amid No-Trade Clause in Red Wings Contract

Julia StumbaughJul 9, 2026

Dylan Larkin has reportedly added a fourth team he would be willing to play for amid his quest for a trade from the Detroit Red Wings.

Larkin recently added the Dallas Stars as a potential destination, according to MLive's Ansar Khan.

The Red Wings captain, who holds a full no-trade clause, requested a trade earlier this offseason.

Larkin previously listed the Florida Panthers, Minnesota Wild and Vegas Golden Knights as teams he would accept a trade to..

The Red Wings have spoken with the Stars about a potential trade involving Larkin and Wyatt Johnston, but there is "no chance" the Stars are willing to trade Johnston, Khan reported.

Larkin, who will turn 30 later this month, scored 34 goals while centering the Red Wings' top line last season.

He's almost seven years older than Johnston, who turned 23 shortly after scoring a career-high 45 goals on the Stars' top line.

The Detroit Free Press' Helene St. James reported Thursday that Larkin had not expanded his three-team wish list since requesting his trade.

St. James also reported the Panthers, Wild or Golden Knights have so far made "no offers" that have intrigued the Red Wings.

The Red Wings are seeking "value-now players" in exchange for Larkin, according to St. James.

The Panthers already traded a package including three first-round picks to acquire former Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk earlier this offseason.

Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman first reported June 5 Larkin had requested a trade.

Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman confirmed the trade request June 27, when he also told reporters Larkin had provided the Red Wings with "a short list of teams" for which he would consider waiving his no-trade clause.

Yzerman also made it clear the Red Wings hadn't committed to trading Larkin, who is signed at an $8.7 million average annual value through the 2030-31 season.

"Dylan has five years remaining on his contract," Yzerman said June 27. "My job as the manager of the Detroit Red Wings is always to do what is in the best interest of the Detroit Red Wings, and I will act accordingly to that.

"I cannot make any guarantees, or I did not make any guarantees, that that request could or would be met."

Larkin was drafted by the Red Wings in 2014 and named captain in 2021. He has played 808 games over 11 seasons with the franchise.

The center played five playoff games with the Red Wings in 2016, which was the last time the franchise has qualified for the postseason. He and the Wings have suffered late-season collapses in each of the last four years on their way to extending a decade-long playoff drought.

Indications are that Larkin wants to play for another contender next season, while Yzerman wants to find a forward who can replace Larkin on the Red Wings' top line quickly enough to help this team fight for a spot in the 2026 postseason.

Whether Yzerman is willing to head into next season with Larkin still on the roster, as well as whether Larkin is willing to expand his reported trade wish list, will impact the likelihood of both goals being achieved this offseason.
